SingPass in Singapore
Have you ever heard about the word SingPass before? Non-locals may feel curious about the particulars of this special pass. Why do Singaporeans keep mentioning this pass when talking about houses, cars, and even having a company incorporated in Singapore?
The SingPass is a common password that individuals use in order to access Singapore government services. SingPass stands for “Singapore Personal Access”. By using this password, you can view the CPF (Central Provident Fund) Statement of Account, filing your income tax, and even to have a company incorporated in Singapore.
Who can have SingPass?
Singapore citizen and Permanent Resident (PR) are definitely eligible to have SingPass. Foreigners holding Employment Pass (EP), Personalised Employment Pass (PEP), EntrePass, S-Pass, Dependant Pass (DP) and selected Work Permit can apply to have the SingPass.
How to get SingPass?
People who are eligible to have SingPass may go to apply by counters of Community Center (commonly known as CC) or CPF Service Center nearby. In order to apply or reset the SingPass successfully, the applicant will be asked to present supporting documents on the spot. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents must show their original NRIC or Passport. Employment Pass, Personalised Employment and EntrePass holders must have the Long Term Pass card or; valid Pass from MOM and Passport. S-Pass holders must show their original S-Pass cards. Eligible Work Permit (WP) holders must have the WP card and the printout of Worker Particulars page indicating the worker’s SingPass eligibility. Dependant Pass holders (of EP, PEP, EntrePass and S-Pass) are required to show the Long Term Pass card or Valid Pass from MOM and Passport. You may also choose the easier way by using the Online Application service to request your SingPass being posted to you. It usually takes 4 working days for you to receive the SingPass by post.
Currently, SingPass provides greater convenience to public users. Users can log in via SingPass on-the-go to access government e-Services using the web browsers of Android, Blackberry, iPhone, iPad, Symbian and Windows-based mobile devices.
