Surrendering Singapore Permanent Residence
An individual will be able to close his PR status even if his re-entry authorization status is still valid. There may be different reasons when you call for closing the Singapore permanent residence (PR) status for whatsoever cause. The following credentials possibly required for cancellation of the PR status are described below:
- The passport of the candidate.
- The candidate’s PR certificate (i.e. NRIC).
- The official document of permanent residence which was provided to the individual when the PR status was issued.
- You also need a letter which is directly addressed to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore. You also need to request them to revoke your Singapore Permanent Residence status.
If an individual is staying in Singapore, he needs to go to the ICA administrative center. At the ICA he can request to relinquish his PR status. If an individual is staying abroad, he can typically have an appointment with the nearby Singapore embassy. An individual has the choice to courier his credentials for processing. You need to verify the current rules and relevant updated procedures with the consulate of Singapore. One does not need to pay anything for the cancellation of Singapore PR status. After the credentials are completely established, the ICA located in Singapore will mail the corresponding communication letter confirming that the candidate now does not own the PR status in Singapore. Afterwards, you need to fill up the application form along with the attachment of relevant documents to withdraw your CPF balance. After the settlement of your income tax liabilities the CPF balance will be wire transferred to your bank within a span of 2-4 weeks.
